1. What kind of program does PVCS offer?
We offer a personalized Learning program with a set
curriculum. We use a variety of materials from
Prentice-Hall, Houghton Mifflin, Saxon, Holt, K-12
Curriculum, Apex and other publishers.

2. How can I get my student pre-enrolled in PVCS?
Parents/Students may go to out home page and click on
enrollment information. Pacific View Charter School has open
enrollment through mid March.

3. Are classes available at PVCS?
K-7 students have an optional half-day-per-week class and
8th grade students can attend two half-days. Some high
school classes have required workshops such as Work
Experience, English, Biology, and Spanish.

4. Does PVCS offer a more Personalized Setting than a
traditional public school?
K-8 students meet one-on-one with their Supervisory Teacher
every two-three weeks; high school students meet one-on-one
every week with their Supervisory Teacher. Classes and
workshops have less than 20 students.

5. Does PVCS have math tutoring available?
Yes, math tutoring is offered several days per week online
and at the PVCS location.

6. How many students attend PVCS?
During the 2009-2010 school year, PVCS averaged 390
K-12 students.

7. Can my student earn extra credits or make-up
credits year-round?
Yes, classes are available year-round within our two track
system. Classes are available in the summer to all high
school students in the four contiguous counties: San
Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Imperial. Additionally,
students are encouraged to attend Mira Costa or
Palomar Community College where they can receive
college units as well as high school credit.

8. If my student has been expelled or suspended
from his/her last school, can he/she
still attend PVCS?
Expulsions and suspensions pending expulsions are
reviewed on an individual basis. The PVCS Director
meets with the student and parents to review the
paperwork which is then presented to the Board of
Trustees. The Director will recommend acceptance
or denial into PVCS and the Boards makes
the final decision.

9. Can my student graduate and receive a high
school diploma from PVCS?
Yes, PVCS is a public high school which holds a
graduation ceremony in June, complete with caps
and gowns. Students will receive a high school
diploma provided they have completed graduation
requirements and have passed the California
High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

11. What does it cost to attend Pacific View Charter School?
To attend Pacific View Charter School, there is no tuition. However, students and families
will be responsible for providing some consumable materials.

12. Who is eligible to attend?
Pacific View Charter School is an autonomous school authorized by the Oceanside Unified
School District (OUSD) that can enroll students living in the following counties: San
Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Imperial.

13. Does the School provide textbooks and other instructional materials?
Yes, textbooks and instructional materials are provided. However, some courses require
additional materials and supplies provided by the parent.

14. Can a student attend Pacific View Charter School and another school simultaneously?
Students cannot attend Pacific View Charter School and another public school at the same
time during the traditional school year of August through June. However, during July and
August, high school students may be concurrently enrolled in the two schools.

15. Are the teachers certified/credentialed?
Yes, all Pacific View Charter School teachers are certified/credentialed.

16.What is the cut-off date for kindergarten?
A child must be five (5) years old by December 2 to enroll in Pacific View Charter School
in August. However, if a student turns five (5) between December 3 and March 1, they may enroll at that time.
