Pacific View Charter School is a K-12 tuition free, public charter school serving San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Imperial counties that specializes in one-on-one instruction. The School provides an excellent educational alternative by partnering with parents and students through a Personalized Learning Model.
K-8 students and their parents meet every two to three weeks with their credentialed Supervisory Teacher. Students in the K-8 program use award-winning, virtual curriculum and may participate in a classroom experience one day a week as well as attend monthly field trips.
High school students have the opportunity to receive their education through traditional book-based curriculum or in an online format. Students work independently with the support of their parents or designated support person in addition to their Supervisory Teacher. Credentialed high school Supervisory Teachers meet with their families weekly. Most high school core courses are UC/a-g approved and supported by tutoring, labs, workshops, and/or field trips.
Pacific View Charter School was established in 1999 to provide an alternative educational opportunity for students in San Diego County and adjacent counties. The school opened its doors with 120 students and has grown to approximately 400 students. In 2008, PVCS moved to a new and larger facility to accommodate the continued growth and expansion of its programs. Pacific View Charter School embraces the Personalized Learning model and believes in the success of each student. Parents are a critical part of the team approach used to assist each student in achieving his/her academic goals.
Parent involvement and building positive relationships is the foundation of the program.
Students at Pacific View Charter School become confident, self-motivated individuals who are academically and technologically proficient. They become productive citizens who show respect for self and others. They develop into effective global communicators who listen, speak, read and write in an effective manner. The individual needs and learning styles of students are accommodated through personalized learning. When students leave Pacific View Charter School, they have the skills to be life-long, reflective learners who are able to be rational and objective when making decisions.
The Pacific View Charter School community is focused on the success of each student and genuinely involves parents in the education of their children. The school is committed to providing appropriate physical space, materials, qualified personnel, and staff development in order to guide the learning of its K-12 students.
These efforts take place in a safe and healthy environment.
