Scholarship Information

FAFSA – Students have to start here. They must fill out a FAFSA application before any scholarship can be awarded. Applications via online (www.fafsa.ed.gov) or mail may be submitted on or after Jan.1, 2007 and must be received no later than Mar. 2, 2007. Jen is holding a workshop on applying for the FAFSA on Feb. 6, 2007 at PVCS. A financial aid representative from MCC will be here to explain the process.

Cal Grant – For a student to be considered for a Cal Grant, the Commission must receive a verified Cal Grant GPA for each applicant. Applications can be found online at www.calgrants.org.

American Chemical Society – For information and online application, please go to the following website: www.chemistry.org/scholars or contact Lena Rumps @ PVCS. The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2007.

The Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship – Is offering a one year $2,500.00 scholarship to four high school seniors in San Diego County. The recipients must have demonstrated his or her ability to overcome obstacles associated with drugs, alcohol, or other hardships; a strong commitment to athletics and to continuing their personal growth; and development through higher education. A student must be nominated for this scholarship. Submission deadline is March 30, 2007.

Educational communication Scholarship Foundation – Open to all high school students who are legal residents of the U.S. and have taken the SAT or ACT examination. Please see Lena Rumps for an application; there is no deadline to submit the application.

Italian Catholic Federation – Applications available and must be received by March 15, 2007.

The Los Angeles Unit of Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic – Student must be a student with a print disability who use RFB&D audio books. Please see Lena Rumps for information. Applications are due to the committee by Friday, April, 20, 2007 @ 5:00 p.m.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Inc. – Students can apply after Jan. 1, 2007 and must be submitted by March 1, 2007.

Mira Costa College – Mira Costa College Foundation has established a scholarship fund to provide financial assistance to: * Continuing Mira Costa students and incoming freshmen from area high schools who have achieved outstanding academic success, and who plan to continue their education at Mira Costa College. Please pick up an application from Lena Rumps; applications are due Thursday, March 15, 2007.

MLK Scholarship – Applications will be available late Jan. and must be submitted to Lena by April 13, 2007.

MTS – Coca-Cola High School Scholarship - Application/Essay is due by 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2007. Please see your teacher or Lena Rumps for and entry form or download a form from www.sdcommute.com or www.sdcoe.k12.ca.us


Nordstrom Scholarship Program – Open to high school juniors who reside in and attend school in the San Diego County. Applications must be postmarked by May 31, 2007. Please see Lena Rumps for an application packet.

Oceanside Chamber of Commerce – Applications are available now and are due March 27, 2007 by 2:00. Please pick up an application from you teacher or Lena Rumps. Return completed application to: Jeanne Griffith, Scholarship Coordinator at the Career Center at El Camino High School.

The Officer’ Wives Club (OWC) of Camp Pendleton – The completed application must be mailed via Untied States Postal Service and postmarked on or before March 31, 2007. For more information and to obtain an application, please visit the website camppendletonowc.org

Pacific View Charter School – Parent Advisory Committee Scholarship – Applications are due to Lena Rumps by May 1, 2007. Please see your teacher for information and an application.

San Diego County Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse – Essay contest open to all San Diego County high school juniors and seniors. The student is NOT required to be college bound to enter the contest. Entries must be postmarked no later than March 16, 2007. Contest information and rules can be found on their website at www.sdcala.org.

San Diego County Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation – This scholarship is applicable to any economically disadvantaged graduating senior who plans to attend any San Diego County community college, college or university. The award is based entirely upon financial need. This year applications must be postmarked by March 5th, 2007. Please see your teacher or Lena Rumps for an application.

The North County Division of the San Diego Building Industry Association – Open to seniors with a career interest in fields such as: builder, contractor, sub-contractor (such as plumber or electrician), banker, architect, planner, civil or structural engineer, interior designer, material supplier, land use attorney, or title representative. Students may obtain an application online at www.biasandiego.org and is due on or before April 9, 2007.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum – For use at a four year college or university. Application deadline is April 1, postmarked in hardcopy sent to San Diego Air & Space Museum in San Diego. Please see Lena Rumps for an application.
