State Testing

Physical Fitness Testing

The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is administered to students in 5th, 7th, and 9th grades in February. It evaluates overall fitness across six key areas:

  • Aerobic Capacity (run/walk)
  • Body Composition (body fat levels)
  • Abdominal Strength (curl-ups)
  • Trunk Strength (trunk lifts)
  • Upper Body Strength (push-ups or arm hangs)
  • Flexibility (sit-and-reach)

This assessment helps monitor student health and physical fitness development.

California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress- CAASPP

Why is it important to take and try your best on the tests?

Grades 3-8 and 11th- and 12th-grade students will all participate in the state testing in the spring.  Students will be tested in ELA and Math. Grades 5, 8, and 11/12 will also be tested in science (CAST).  These tests are vital to comparing students' individual academic growth each year and to the school’s overall performance.

In addition, the results of these exams are one of the ways that Pacific View is evaluated for renewal every five years. These tests are mandatory for all students in the state of California, and the results play a critical role in helping our charter school continue to serve students for years to come.

How to prepare for the tests?

  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Remember, phones will be stored away by teachers during the test (and returned afterward).
  • Bring your fully charged Chromebook!
