California Healthy Youth Act
Pacific View Charter provides health education in accordance with the California Healthy Youth Act. This law ensures that students receive comprehensive, age-appropriate, and medically accurate instruction that supports their overall health and well-being.
Instruction is designed to:

provide students with knowledge to support healthy decision-making

promote understanding of adolescent development and well-being

support the development of healthy relationships and communication skills

prevent HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and unintended pregnancy
-
promote respect for self and others
Additional Student Safety Education
PVC also supports age-appropriate instruction related to human trafficking prevention in alignment with
The Human Trafficking Prevention Education and Training Act helps students build awareness, develop safety strategies, and access support resources.
Instruction & Materials
- Instruction is provided by trained teachers and/or approved educational providers
- All materials are aligned with California Education Code requirements
- Parents and guardians may preview all instructional materials upon request
- Families will be notified in advance of when instruction will occur
Parent/Guardian Rights (Opt-Out)
Parents and guardians have the right to excuse their student from participation in comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention education. Opt-out requests must be submitted in writing prior to instruction.
